Pataille farms just 0.3 hectares of ancient vines in the lieu-dit of Champ Forey in Marsannay-la-Côte. Planted between 1932 and 1961, the Aligoté Doré vines sit at 250 metres and face east on gravelly limestone soils. Champ Forey ferments chiefly in used casks (just 15% new) and ages for one year before bottling.

Reviews

“Offering up aromas of minty green apple and white flowers, the 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté Les Champ Forey is medium-bodied, satiny and textural, with tangy acids that lend this wine a taut, electric profile.”
88 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“The 2021 Bourgogne Aligoté Champ Forey, a selection of old vines, has an attractive nose with touches of Mirabelle and jasmine, more minimalist in style. The palate is citrus driven, orange zest and lemon rind, tensile through to its finish. Very fine.”
88-90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
“This bottling is usually very ripe, but in 2021, cool weather ensured a lovely, fresh, crisp edge to the apricot aromas along with an herbal, almost tarragon note on the finish. There is great elegance and purity, and a finish that lingers attractively.”
92 points, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter
