Another of our smallest allocations. This is not a new vineyard for Leroux, but it is just our third allocation. At 2.73 hectares, Griottes is the smallest of the Gevrey Grand Crus, and Leroux’s vines sit in the upper section to the south of the Grand Cru. Fermented with just 20% bunches, just one 450-litre barrel was produced this year. With Ben’s contract at the end of its road, 2022 is the last vintage of this great wine. Like most of the wines in magnum, it will need time, but from cask, it was to-die-for delicious.

Reviews

“Crimson purple. Slightly higher toned in bouquet. Then brilliant on the palate with huge depth, a concentrated background which places this over and above the Charmes. Very intense through the middle, still some tannins to refine, but excellent potential.”
94-97 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“Unusually, Ben mostly destemmed this saying, "It's more like a white wine." Given its immensely fine tannins and racy, refreshing acidity, I can see his point, especially compared to his other Grand Crus. The perfume is impressively heady. Leather, spice bins and violets meld with red and purple fruits. The fine vinosity takes its time on the finish. This will be a thrill early on but will cellar well, too.”
