The Meursault is based solely on Leroux’s own vines in Moulin Landin, Les Criots, Bois de Blagny and Les Millerands. There’s also some Clos du Village, one of the new parcels in Meursault that Leroux picked up following the 2017 harvest. These sites are mostly lower in the village, but Leroux also used fruit from the higher white marls of Bois de Blagny, which brings incredible drive and salty/mineral backbone to the layered fleshiness of the other Meursault fruit. Each of these sites is certified organic and managed with biodynamic methods. The oldest vines date back to 1944. Fermentation and maturation occur in 300-litre and 600-litre barrels before the wine is racked to foudre and stainless steel to finish aging. Terrific.

Reviews

“On its finings, the village Meursault is blended from lower slope vineyards plus Bois de Blagny just under the forest. Elegant white fruit, a mix of apple and pear, displaying more body weight on the palate. The Meursault retains good acidity as well, so this will continue to build in the right direction.”
89-92 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
“The 2022 Meursault Village has an effective reduction on the nose that lends tension; there is real complexity here. The palate is well-balanced with a smooth, rounded texture, notes of pineapple and hints of orange pith, harmonious towards the finish with a pinch of lemongrass. Very promising.”
88-90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
“Oak spice, rum baba, white chocolate biscuits, grapefruit and nougat, spice and furry peach, minty finish. A fair bit of ripe tones and spice but overall plushness to texture makes it a super lovely, balanced wine.”
93 points, Kasia Sobiesiak, The Wine Front
