This year, Grenache Blanc joins its Iberian cousin, Arinto, in the Electric Magnolia blend. Two clones of each variety are grown in the Whistling Eagle vineyard, which Dan has been managing for nigh-on 10 years now. The mostly dry-grown vines climb above native cover crops in ancient soils derived from a 525-million-year-old basaltic shelf. The fruit was picked by hand and chilled before being destemmed and pressed to steel tanks for a cool, slow fermentation. The lees were stirred throughout the three-month maturation, and the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Linnaea notes: With aromatics framing luscious pear supporting endless turns of lemon and lime, and a tangy palate of some lengthy deliciousness, we have nicknamed her 'Electric Margarita'.
