The chalky Chevalières lieu-dit sits high up on the slope, above the village, right next to Les Rougeots, and regularly makes wines that could easily justify a Premier Cru classification. Actually, Les Chevalières is an extension of the Premier Cru band across Meursault—with pretty much the same soils and altitude. As the slope steers around the village, the vineyards begin to turn eastwards, thus becoming cooler and rockier as they rise up towards Auxey-Duresses.

Reviews

“More chiseled and tightly wound than the more enveloping Limozin, Germain’s 2019 Meursault Les Chevalières mingles notes of citrus zest, beeswax, crisp green apple, white flowers and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it’s tangy and incisive, with fine concentration and a chalky finish.” 91-93 points
92 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Outstanding. Top Value. “A slightly cooler nose reflects notes of spice, freshly sliced apple, petrol and a whiff of hazelnut. The delicate but emphatically punchy flavors exude evident minerality on the sneaky long finish. Like the straight Meursault, I very much like the texture of the lilting mid-palate. A wine of finesse and understatement.” 89-92 points
