This fleshy yet precise Chassagne is drawn from six well-sited parcels across the village: La Canière, Le Chêne, Les Benoîtes, Pot Bois, En Journoblot and Les Houillères. The parcels lie below the 1ers Crus except Pot Bois, which is one of Chassagne’s highest vineyards and sits above the Clos Saint-Jean. Les Houillères also deserves a callout, sitting, as it does, below Bâtard. The average age across these vines is 30 years. This is always outstanding, and the 2022 is no exception: offering texture, purity, loads of spice and length. Don’t hesitate.

Bachelet-Monnot Chassagne-Montrachet 2022

Reviews

“The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a delightful bouquet: chai tea mixed with citrus fruit, elegant in style with the 25% new oak deftly integrated. The palate is well-balanced with lemon rind and orange zest on the entry and fine weight. It’s very harmonious with a nuanced, spicy finish. Totally delicious and nudging Premier Cru in quality.”
91-93 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
“Mid lemon yellow. A minor and benevolent reduction on the nose, which becomes steadily more elegant with aeration. Good tension, a stony quality, a little more warmth behind, an interesting Chassagne for the medium term.”
89-91 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
