“Biodynamic farmed Burgundy out of Macon. I love the diversity of wine styles you get south of Beaune. I love the producers who use very low or no new oak. I love the expressive freedom to step off aping the neighbours in wine styles from down south. Here’s an example of such. And from four very fine lieu dits anyways. Mellow texture, supple and soft, a wash of ripe stone fruits, salted cashew, green herbs and very fresh feeling limey acidity. Burgundy with proper grape flavour, an expressive, outside the box slosh of rich fruit, savoury characters and strong, saline minerality. Mouth-filling, refreshing too, a light chalky pucker and a palate-staining persistence of fruit and spice. Wonderful! A full meal here without too much heft. It’s character plus, and bravo for that.”
