Biodynamic. Goisot’s Corps de Garde Pinot is drawn from three mature plots (40 to 70 years old) in Côte de la Ronce/Haut de la Ronce, Côte de Tue Chien and Gueules de Loup. These vineyards are on slopes of Kimmeridgian limestone, mixed with both red-brown and white clays.

All the grapes were destemmed and there was no pigeage (Goisot prefers to extract tannins gently and only from the grape’s skins rather than the pips). Macerated and vinified in open wood fermenters, this wine was then transferred to 300-litre Burgundian barriques (20% new, with the remainder between one and five years old), for 12 months.

Reviews

“A very ripe yet agreeably fresh nose combines notes of poached plum, spice and earth wisps. The exceptionally rich medium-bodied flavors possess a suave mid-palate mouth feel that contrasts somewhat with the rustic but seductive bitter cherry and mildly austere finale. This is seriously impressive for its level and recommended, particularly so for value.”
89 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
“The 2018 Bourgogne-Côtes d’Auxerre Corps de Garde has a fresh, marine-tinged bouquet of pure red currant and cranberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and rustic with a firm backbone, and compact on the finish, which veers toward more black fruit.”
89 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
