Windows Estate’s Semillon grows on its organically managed 1996-planted Home Block, a free-draining site with a north-south orientation on an ironstone/laterite ridge. It's just the second 100% Semillon winemaker Chris Davies has produced in more than a decade. The fruit was harvested by hand in pristine conditions at first light, and fermentation occurred naturally. Maturation was in both oak and clay vessels.
The finished wine mirrors the high mineral content of the soil, with a dewy slate element evident on the nose, underpinned by varietal grassy tones and citrus. Bright citrus abounds on the palate, alongside white flowers and oyster-shell minerality. A fine acid backbone gives insight into the cellaring potential of this wine.“A mid-straw gold with wafts of sun-bleached hay, florals and glacé lime. Fresh and lively with no shortage of acidity, but also some texture.” 90 points, Jane Faulkner, The Wine Companion

Reviews

“A mid-straw gold with wafts of sun-bleached hay, florals and glacé lime. Fresh and lively with no shortage of acidity, but also some texture.”
90 points, Jane Faulkner, The Wine Companion
"The 2021 Petit Lot Semillon is green and creamy, with jalapeño, coriander, crushed pistachios, creamed nuts and layers of fresh, soft leafy herbs and lashings of white pepper, crushed shells, green peppercorns, beeswax and wisteria. It is grassy—like a sun-drenched pile of clippings. It's really quite attractive and different from Semillon from other parts of this country; here, it is maritime and coastal but concentrated and fine. A lot to absorb. 11.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."
93 points, Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate
“The classy 2021 Semillon Petit Lot shows excellent use of oak for this variety with a delicious upfront vibrancy and energy to the hay, grassy and lemon rind aromas and subtle nougat complexity. Finely detailed, old oak adds backbone and depth to fine and fresh flavors of honey and citrus delivered over a long and fine finish.”
92 points, Angus Hughson, Vinous
