This should not be confused with the Beaune Premier Cru of the same name. Meursault’s Clos des Mouches is a tiny monopole belonging exclusively to Henri Germain, and devoted entirely to Pinot Noir. It could be labelled as Volnay, as most reds from Meursault are, but Germain chooses to call a Meursault a Meursault.
The half-hectare site lies near the Volnay border, due south of Les Santenots. The old Pinot Fin vines (planted in 1949) produce very low yields—under 25 hl/ha in a good year. The site is one of the few remaining walled vineyards in Meursault. The 2019 was fermented with 40% whole bunches.
