Biodynamic. 60% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre (including a touch of Counoise). The Cuvée Les Douyes was previously labelled Cuvée Prestige. It’s drawn from vines planted in 1905, rooted entirely in the limestone-rich lieu-dit of the same name, in the Quartier Saint-Martin. In qualitative terms, this wine stands toe to toe with the Domaine's cult Haut Coustias bottling, although this wine spends a shorter 18 months in large old foudre. The vines are now well over 100 years old and yield between 18-25 hectolitres per hectare, and this wine offers bewildering value for money.

Oratoire Côtes du Rhône Village Cairanne Rouge Les Douyes 2014

Reviews

“100-year-old co-planted vines from a single vineyard, no destemming. Dark and meaty in style. Intense, juicy strawberry fruit, all very bright and fresh. A delicious, relatively structured style of Cairanne. As with all the l'Oratoire reds it is not fined nor filtered.”
