Spinifex Tempranillo 2024

Tempranillo has been part of the Spinifex mix since 2006. As far as Australian production goes, this is at the top of the tree. The fruit is sourced from two parcels in the elevated reaches of Rowland Flat in the southern Barossa near the foothills of Angaston. The vines are rooted in classic terra rossa soils (red clay over limestone) with gravelly sand. The plots are primarily dry-grown. Pete values the fruit’s good, early flavour development while retaining vivid, natural acidity. The fruit was picked by hand and destemmed with partial berry crushing to tank for fermentation. The wine matured in large, neutral French oak for 10 months before being bottled with light filtration.
